Chatra, August 21: In Chatra district, Naxals once again attempted to assert their presence. Late on Wednesday night, members of Naxal commander Manohar Ganjhu’s squad set ablaze a tractor and a passenger vehicle parked outside a house in Lembodih village under the Lawalong police station area.

According to information, the Naxals had first tried to locate the owners of the vehicles. When they could not find them, they grew agitated, torched both vehicles, and fled the scene. The incident has triggered fear and panic in the region.

Meanwhile, upon receiving information, police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. The case is being probed with seriousness, and a search operation has been intensified to track down the Naxals.

Villagers said that a local, Santan Ganjhu, has been accused of helping the police in the past. He had reportedly assisted authorities in destroying opium cultivation and had even provided a tractor to the police.
