Jamshedpur, April 1: In a ceremony filled with enthusiasm and patriotism, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) unit was inaugurated today at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur.

The event, organised by NCC Jharkhand Battalion 37 Jamshedpur, marked the formal commencement of Sub-unit number 04/37 allocated to NIT Jamshedpur.

The inauguration was graced by Colonel Vinay Ahuja, Commanding Officer, 37 Jharkhand Battalion NCC, and Professor Goutam Sutradhar, Director of NIT Jamshedpur.

About NCC

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) holds a significant position as one of the largest youth organizations globally, established under the National Cadet Corps Act on April 16, 1948.

The National Cadet Corps operates under the Indian Military Cadet Corps headquartered in New Delhi, open to voluntary participation from school and college students.

Colonel Ahuja emphasizes NCC’s role in nation-building and Army recruitment ease

In his address, Chief Guest Colonel Vinay Ahuja emphasized the primary objective of NCC, which is to nurture disciplined and patriotic citizens capable of contributing to nation-building.

He highlighted the myriad benefits of joining NCC, ranging from leadership training and character building to career opportunities and adventure.

Colonel Ahuja also shed light on the role of NCC in easing the journey of aspiring candidates in army recruitment through the ‘C’ certificate.

NIT Jamshedpur Director welcomes NCC

Director of NIT Jamshedpur, Prof. Goutam Sutradhar, expressed joy and pride in welcoming the NCC unit to the campus, stating that it aligns with the objectives outlined in the New Education Policy 2020.

He assured full support from the institute in providing necessary infrastructure and assistance for the development of NCC activities.

Who all were present?

The ceremony witnessed the presence of Lieutenant Colonel Gaurav Kumar Mishra, Administrative Officer, 37 Jharkhand BN NCC Jamshedpur, along with other dignitaries including Deputy Director Prof. RB Sharma, Colonel (Retd.) Nishith Kumar Rai, Dr. Prahlad Prasad, Professor SB Prasad, and Associate NCC Officer Mr. Munesh Kumar. Heads of various departments, officers, students, and media representatives also attended the event, symbolizing the collective commitment towards fostering a spirit of discipline, patriotism, and service among the youth.

The inauguration of the NCC unit at NIT Jamshedpur heralds a new chapter in the institute’s journey, promising to instill values of leadership, discipline, and national pride among its students.
