Jamshedpur, April 3: A new Squash facility has come up at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur which is a step ahead in the promotion of sports in the steel city.
The new facility, one of its kind in Jamshedpur, will provide access to the general community. So far, two private clubs, Beldih and Golmuri have squash courts catering to around 30 players.
CEO and managing director of Tata Steel T V Narendran asserted that Tata Steel consistently strives to raise the bar for sporting excellence and takes great pride in its contribution to the field. “I hope the new addition will strengthen the Company’s legacy and prove to be instrumental in nurturing budding talents and revitalising the enthusiasm for sports in the community”, he said
New squash court as per international standards
The new squash court has been designed based on international singles squash court design parameters and guidelines as per the World Squash Federation (WSF), featuring a court size of 6.4m x 9.75m, a court clear height of 5.65m and an illumination level of 1000 Lux.

The technical specifications of the Squash courts include the installation of Bio‐Cush wooden sports flooring system made of Imported hard maple wood, a “BounceWell” / “Rebound” hard plaster system certified by the World Squash Federation, and a free-standing “Clear Tough” glass back wall system meeting WSF requirements.
To encourage greater participation, a special introductory early bird offer is on anvil for the initial three months to avail squash facility at the JRD Tata Sports Complex.
Training centres for 19 sports at JRD Tata Sports Complex
JRD Tata Sports Complex houses training centres for archery, athletics, basketball, badminton, boxing, chess, cricket, football, golf, handball, horse riding, kabaddi, karate, roll ball & skating, swimming, table tennis, tennis and volleyball. Other facilities include a yoga centre, Zumba, Steelym Gym, Bodyline Gym, Power-Plus Gym, Walking Tracks etc.
The new squash court will be the 19th training facility and is a valuable addition to the sports facilities offered to the Jamshedpur community, providing a best-in-class playing environment for all sporting enthusiasts.
