THE JHARKHAND STORY NETWORK

Daltonganj, September 18: Aspirants for the posts of Chowkidars will be writing their test today on the optical mark reader sheet, popularly known as OMR sheet, said the nodal officer, examination, Md Jawed Hussain, the city commissioner here.

The nodal officer, who is more known by his first name, Jawed, said, “We have fixed 15 centres for the written test examination of the Chowkidars. All the 15 exam centres are under the ambit of the Sadar block only. One such centre is at Jamuney.”

Exam format and content

The duration of the examination is 90 minutes.

The nodal officer was very reticent when asked about the subject or subjects on which there would be a set of questions.

To all that Jawed said, “I understand it will be a sort of general studies like how Palamu is, what Jharkhand is all about. I can’t afford to be any more elaborative to it.”

Asked if there would be simple mathematics or reasoning, he said, “Obviously, it would be”. He very emphatically said, “There would be no negative marking.”

Break up of posts and qualification details

The written test is for 155 posts of Chowkidars. There is no post vacant for the SC aspirants as it is already saturated.

The break up is 78 posts for the general, 13 for EWS (economically weaker section), SC- Nil, ST- 30, OBC 10 and backward classes 24.

The age is 18 to 40 but 40 years is only for the ST aspirants. For women, the upper age cap is 38 years. General candidates have to be contented with 35 years.

10th class pass is the basic educational qualification but there are reports of aspirants having higher certificates trying luck for the posts of Chowkidars here.

Physical requirements

Physique matters most to this post. A woman aspirant must be 148 cm in height while a general be 160 cm in height. STs maximum required height is 155 cm.

The establishment office in the Palamu collectorate put the number of examinees to 6,422.

After days of heavy rains, Daltonganj is a sunny day today and there is every hope of larger attendance and fewer absentees to this Chowkidar test.

The nodal officer said all arrangements are in order and the written test will be in all sanctity of the exam.
