Dhanbad, Feb 15: A magistrate-led ticket-checking drive at multiple railway stations under the Dhanbad Rail Division of the East Central Railway (ECR) resulted in fines totaling over Rs 4.44 lakh from 876 ticketless passengers traveling on passenger and express trains.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr. DCM) Amresh Kumar stated that the checking campaign was conducted across several stations, including Chandrapura, Daltonganj, Chopan, Barkakana, and Singrauli.

“In addition to ticketless passengers, fines were also imposed on travelers without proper authorization and those transporting goods without booking,” he said.

A total of Rs 4,44,435 was collected in penalties, and the offenders were strictly warned to travel with a valid ticket in the future.

“The primary objective of the magistrate-led inspection was to curb ticketless travel, ensuring a hassle-free experience for passengers with valid tickets,” added Sr. DCM Amresh Kumar.
