THE JHARKHAND STORY NETWORK

Daltonganj, July 13: Civil Surgeon Dr Anil Kumar made a surprise inspection of two government health centres, one of Tarhassi PHC and the other health aid at Manatu on Friday.

Speaking to this correspondent Dr Anil Kumar said, “Anti rabies vaccines were found in the functional fridge at the Tarhassi PHC and also at Manatu government health aid. The anti-venom serum vials were also found kept protected from the heat at PHC while anti-venom serum vials were found in the fridge at Manatu health aid.”

“Here I asked the ANM to keep ice packs for a better maintenance of temperature for the anti-venom serum vials. I pulled out the ice packs from the fridge and got it sandwiched between the packets of the anti-venom serum vials at the Tarhassi PHC,” added the civil surgeon.

The cold chain at the Tarhassi PHC was very well maintained. The space was neat and clean. However, the child room was found locked and when opened under the order of the civil surgeon was found ‘uncleaned for days together.’

The overall look at Tarhassi PHC was extraordinarily neat and clean. There was no cobweb anywhere on the roof or wall of the room.

The civil surgeon said, “I met two lady patients there at Tarhassi PHC. One had a normal delivery. The other had a miscarriage. Both were happy to have a good treatment here.”

“I asked them if they or their men paid any money to anyone here at the Tarhassi PHC to which the ladies responded to me with confidence and without any hesitation we paid no money as no one ever asked for it,” said Dr Anil Kumar.

Cases of typhoid have seen an upswing. It’s because of the weather conditions. Here at Tarhassi PHC blood tests are done for sugar and TB too!

The next surprise inspection of the civil surgeon was a shabby-looking government health aid at Manatu where although the building of the health aid looked even worse for a beggar’s home but here medical aid was in order.

There was a functional BP instrument. A dental assistant was there. A dresser was ready with cotton and lotion.

The Manatu government health aid had anti-rabies vaccines and anti-venom serum vials in the fridge!

As this health aid had just 4 anti-venom serum vials, civil surgeon Dr Anil Kumar asked personnel here to have 40 anti-venom serum vials from Tarhassi PHC.

The highlight of the Tarhassi PHC and dilapidated government health aid at Manatu was that at both places conduct of normal deliveries was a regular feature with clinical precision and cleanliness.
