Daltonganj, June 15: In a significant step towards transparent recruitment, the Palamu administration has eliminated the role of middlemen by scrapping both written tests and interviews for the recruitment of Grade IV staff. This move aims to ensure fairness and prevent exploitation of candidates.

Additional Collector Kundan Kumar clarified, “There is no written test or interview at all. Candidates should be cautious of anyone claiming otherwise.”

A student leader recently questioned the decision during a visit to the Additional Collector’s office. Responding to the query, Kumar stated, “Middlemen are confused by our transparent recruitment process, which is based purely on Class 10 marks.”

CBSE Students May Have an Edge Over JAC Candidates

Concerns have emerged over the evaluation disparity between CBSE and JAC boards. CBSE tends to award higher marks—often 95+—while JAC is seen as more conservative. This could give CBSE candidates an advantage in the merit-based selection.

Simple Application Process with No Notary Affidavits

The administration has simplified the application procedure. Candidates must fill out the forms in their own handwriting and submit them—along with a self-declaration of qualifications—either via registered or speed post by 5 PM on July 5. Drop-box submissions are not allowed.

The need for a notarised affidavit has been waived. Instead, candidates must provide a handwritten oath declaration.

Applications can be submitted at the Employment Exchange in Daltonganj. Online registration is also available via jharniyojan.jharkhand.gov.in.

585 Posts Notified, Over Half Reserved

Out of the 585 vacancies announced, 268 are unreserved, while 317 are reserved for various categories.

Cycling Requirement Raises Accessibility Concerns

One unique requirement is the ability to ride a bicycle—male and female cycles will be provided. However, the administration is working on exemptions for differently-abled candidates, as the cycling condition may not be feasible for them.

Residential Certificate a Bottleneck?

A valid residential certificate is mandatory. However, delays and inefficiency in issuing these certificates could create bottlenecks. Officials have been urged to speed up the process to avoid chaos.
