Daltonganj, Oct 7: Palamu DC Shashi Ranjan got angry today in the jam-packed central peace committee meeting at Pdt Deendayal Upadhaya Smriti Bhavan.

The Smriti Bhavan is well-furnished. It has ACs, sound system, huge screen and other facilities.

However, in this AC hall, the district Social Welfare Officer Neeta Chouhan brought in a couple of desert coolers for the concluding day of the 100 days of the Beti Bachao Beti Parhao campaign.

Neeta Chouhan also put up a huge screen when this Smriti Bhavan has already a state-of-the-art screen with an adequate sound system.

DC Shashi Ranjan taking time off the meeting said in a huff tone, “Mera mood kharab kar diya hai. Kyon district Social Welfare Officer kyon aap ne screen, coolers, sound system bahar say mangwaya  jab ki is hall may AC, screen, sound system hai.” [You have spoiled my mood. Why did you (District Social Welfare Officer) bring in screens, coolers, and sound systems from outside when there are already AC, screens, and sound systems in this hall?]

DC didn’t stop here. He asked “Why have you wasted the government money? I will deduct the government money so wasted by you on these things from your salary.”

The district Social Welfare Officer Neeta Chouhan had no answer to defend herself.

The audience liked this reprimand of this officer by the DC. A couple of the men sitting in the Smriti Bhavan clapped too which was spurned by the DC saying this was no occasion for such a thing.
