Daltonganj, September 22: Snake in a shoe! Beware of this slithering danger. It can be anywhere. A few months back, a deadly snake was in a bed where it bit three, two of them children, who later died at the village Pathra under the Chainpur block in Palamu.
This nerve-chilling experience, which a government doctor confronted very recently in the DDR (Doctors’ Duty Room) in the sub-divisional hospital Hussainabad in Palamu district, offers a lesson. See before you wear your shoes!
The doctor Ajay Singh narrated how he managed to survive an imminent bite from the snake which was hidden right in his left shoe.

“My socks were in my shoes. It was getting around 8 in the morning. I tried to lift the sock with my toe and finger when I felt something cold,” recalled the doctor.
He said, “I couldn’t guess as to what could be the cold thing. But when I saw a nearly two-foot-long snake coming out of my left shoe, I knew the danger in store for me”.
The snake came out and slithered down the tiled floor of the hospital.
The snake had not harmed the doctor or anyone else, and so it was given a chance to slip into the bushes, some far away from the hospital, said a staff of this sub-divisional hospital, Hussainabad.
