A dedicated cell for the ex-servicemen called Veer Pariwar Sahaita Yojna would be launched at the same third National Lok Adalat, informed the Palamu DLSA Secretary Rakesh Ranjan.

Ranjan said, “We have three ex-servicemen advocates on the panel, besides around 7 para legal volunteers of ours are ex-servicemen.”

This dedicated ex-servicemen cell will look after the legal issues of the ex-servicemen, reiterated the Secretary.

Benches and Case Priorities

There would be 15 benches in all, comprising 10 judicial benches, 1 permanent Lok Adalat, 1 consumer court bench and 3 sub-divisional magistrate benches.

Palamu DLSA Secretary Rakesh Ranjan, at his maiden press briefing here in the Civil Court building in Daltonganj, ahead of the Saturday National Lok Adalat, was too free and frank with the mediapersons and took the queries and questions of the media very adroitly and professionally.

When it’s National Lok Adalat, compoundable cases of excise offences provide immense relief, where the case revolves around 50 litres of illicit liquor, as it’s just a relief of excise compoundable cases where the seizure is of 10 litres of illicit liquor only. Relief comes big in the National Lok Adalat, where the seizure of illicit liquor is 50 litres even.

Progress in Pre-Sittings and Mediation

So far, 100 cases of cheque bounce have been settled in pre-sitting, informed the Palamu DLSA Secretary.

“There came 250 plus cases for the Mediation for the Nation campaign, which is to conclude this September 30. A little over 125 cases have been mutually and amicably settled,” Ranjan said.

“We are confident of over topping the number of cases settled last National Lok Adalat as our Principal District and Sessions Judge and the team are working quite arduously for it. We seek cooperation of all the stakeholders,” added the Secretary.

Limited Human Resources

Rakesh Ranjan, in a very candid manner, conceded, “Our human resources are limited. We launch many beneficial schemes. But we are not in a position to make a wider outreach. I seek cooperation of the mediapersons to help us reach every household through their information network.”

A massive facelift and renovation work is on in the Civil courts building in Daltonganj. Artisans and craftsmen are working quite judiciously.

The press briefing was held in a chamber where timber aroma was causing some discomfort to the eyes nevertheless, the sitting arrangement, wall fans and air conditioners were functioning properly to dilute the pervasive timber smell triggered by solvents and chemicals used in fixing the timber.
