Daltonganj, April 22: Traffic management is set to be a big challenge in Daltonganj on April 24, when a large number of Lok Sabha candidates will file their nomination papers for the Palamu Lok Sabha seat.
The day being Wednesday is a Market Day here when a large number of vegetable sellers, goat sellers and chicken sellers throng the streets. Their concentration is mainly on the banks of the river Koyal and it may not cause any more problems except that it will shorten space for parking of the vehicles of the supporters of the candidates.
BJP candidate Vishnu Dayal Ram will file his nomination papers on April 24. The BJP high command wants this nomination affair to be a great pre-polling event for the party. Former Union Minister V K Singh, who was once the Indian Army Chief, will be present on the occasion.
The BJP has booked the Shivajee Maidan in Daltonganj for its rally to be addressed by V K Singh on April 24. A crowd of 7 to 8 thousand of BJP cadres and supporters is expected and a lion’s share of it is to come from Chainpur.
BJP MLA Alok Chourasia is set to send his supporters here in thousands to convey a political message that his hold on to the cadres is intact and his contesting third time in a row for the Jharkhand Assembly election again due in November-December 2024 should not be seen as any sign of the invasive politics of him.

The Daltonganj Shahpur Road Bridge is set to see a snarl of traffic if not regulated properly. This bridge connects Palamu to states like UP and Chhatisgarh and hence it is a high value trade and commerce road bridge.
More than two dozen school buses negotiate this bridge further causing traffic issues on this Daltonganj Shahpur road bridge. On the day of the nomination traffic movement will bring police under tremendous pressure.
The RJD’s Mamta Bhuiyan will also file nomination on the same day. Her cavalcade will come from Bairya More in the town. It is set to cause heavy congestion here.
Former Maoist turned politician cum former MP Kameshwar Baitha will file nomination from the BSP. It is being officially said here by the BSP state unit.
Baitha’s caravan will be coming over to Daltonganj from Bishrampur area and here again one more road bridge before the Paton More is set to see a traffic deluge.
SP Reeshma Ramesan said, “Police are aware of the traffic challenges. It will ensure smooth traffic. All concerned should keep in mind that the model code of conduct is enforced and hence it is to be seen that under no circumstances there is any dislocation of the traffic.”
The SP warned that no violator to traffic rules will go unpunished. No one can get away, she reiterated. Chaos will not be permitted at all.
On an average 8 to 10 ambulances go out of Daltonganj every day and a similar number of it comes in daily too. Its movement has to be free. The ECI has strict instructions for keeping NHs and important roads to be kept off logjam.
There is a strict note of the ECI that no political party or candidate can afford to cause any public inconvenience by way of bringing in huge and haphazard crowds of supporters on the streets.
The April 24 deluge of political crowd poses serious threat to the outflow and inflow of the ambulances.
SP Reeshma Ramesan said “Police will ensure ambulances do not face any traffic problem on this day of the nomination.”
She said police will see as to where drop gates can be set up further to regulate traffic.
