Daltonganj, October 31: Run For Unity was held on National Unity Day here in Daltonganj.

It was graced by the Palamu Zonal IG of Police, Shailendra Kumar Sinha.

A host of senior police officers and officials, led by the SP Reeshma Ramesan, walked in from the town police station to the police line ground.

School children and a modest number of civilians too joined this Run For Unity.

National Unity Day is observed every October 31. It’s to commemorate the birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The theme of National Unity Day 2025 is Unity in Diversity. India is a mosaic of varied and colourful cultures, regions and religions but despite such diversity, India has a unique Indianness across its length and breadth.

Inclement weather and early morning rains saw this Run For Unity take off at 9 am instead of the 7 am prescheduled time.

The participants took a pledge to protect the unity, integrity, security and sovereignty of India.

The pledge was read out by the IG Sinha, who had a copy of the pledge in one hand and a microphone in other while all the other participants had stretched out their hands horizontally as an expression of solidarity.

A similar Run For Unity was held at different police stations and police outposts in Palamu, said the SP Reeshma Ramesan.
