Jamshedpur, April 8: Acting on a tip-off, the police on Monday busted an unauthorised mini-liquor factory at Chakradharpur in the West Singhbhum district.
While unearthing the spurious ‘foreign’ liquor factory, the police arrested five persons indulged in the racket and seized huge quantities of filled liquor bottles as well as materials needed for the manufacturing of the duplicate liquor.
The seized materials include five cartons of liquor bottles, over 1,000 empty bottles of various popular liquor companies, corks, labels and sealing machines.
The mini-liquor factory was running at a house at Chakradharpur Harizan Bustee near the Jila Parishad building in Chakradharpur.

Revealing about the breakthrough, additional superintendent of police, West Singhbhum, Parash Rana said that all the five arrested persons were originally from Bihar.
“The racket of manufacturing spurious ‘foreign’ liquor was running since the past one year. The stocks of duplicate liquor were being disposed off in Chakradharpur, Chaibasa and in the interior of the West Singhbhum district, ” said the additional SP while addressing a press conference at Chaibasa today.
The senior police officer pointed out that as the general elections came closer, the racketeers had planned to increase the volume of liquor production, expecting huge sales among the gullible electorate.
The police are preparing to send the samples of the seized spurious liquor to a Ranchi-based laboratory for chemical examination so as to get it ascertained how much harmful the seized liquor is.
