Dhanbad, March 12: Police used mild force to disperse violent women agitators seeking jobs in Engaldeep Infra Outsourcing coal company of Bharat Coking Coal Limited under Bhagaband police outpost (OP), around 11.5 Km away from here, on Tuesday.
Over a dozen women were injured, and several bikes of agitators were damaged. Sundari Devi, who was leading the agitation, alleged that henchmen of the outsourcing company and Bhagabandh OP police personnel chased and thrashed them in front of the deputy superintendent of police.
However, Deputy Superintendent of Police (law and Order) Dipak Kumar denied the lathi charge on demonstrators. He said that two youths were arrested, and an FIR was lodged against five named and 40-50 unidentified men and women under different Sections of IPC for attacking police personnel and obstructing public function.

Under the banner of Mahila Samiti, the agitators were sitting on an indefinite dharna near Engaldeep Infra outsourcing coal company for their eight-point demand, including jobs for locals.
They also protested against the outsourcing company releasing mining water into the villagers’ farmlands. The agitators became violent during the dharna, and the area turned into a battlefield.
Agitating women charged that Mahila Samiti had given a memorandum to the local administration for the job with a local outsourcing company engaged in Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), providing basic facilities in the area. But rather than providing facilities, police resorted to lathi charges on a peaceful dharna, they added.
