Dhanbad, July 18: A prohibitory order under Section 163 of  BNS  has been imposed in the Pandarpala of the minority-dominated Wasseypur area under the Bhuli police station of the township after a bloody clash between two groups over the Muharrum procession route on Wednesday night.

Over half a dozen people from both sides are reportedly injured in the clash.

Heavy police forces of the Dhanbad and Bokaro districts were deployed to maintain peace in the area. The officials claimed the situation was brought under control completely at around midnight.

Having seen the situation tense following the clash, SDM Uday Rajak announced the imposition of a prohibitory order under Section 163 in a one km radius of the area under Bhuli OP.

Dhanbad senior superintendent of police HP Janardhan said that the change of the Muharrum procession route triggered the clash but the situation was duly controlled at night.

The procession was going from Pandarpala Imambada Gosia Masjid to Bank More  Karbla in the evening. Millatgunj route was fixed for the procession. But the organizers all of a sudden on way changed the route and began proceeding through Kumhar Toly’s path.

Organizers said due to damaged drainage, water was crossing on road. So, they changed the route.

However, the residents of Kumar Toly protested which triggered brick batting from both sides.

Getting information deputy commissioner (DC) Madhvi Mishra,SSP HP Janardhan,  city SP  Ajit Kumar,SDM Uday Rajak, and DSP (law and order) Dipak Kumar reached the spot along with heavy police force and controlled the situation.

Since the power supply in the area was disconnected due to the Tajia procession from the evening, the rowdy elements managed to escape from the spot in dark before district administration authorities took action.
