Jamshedpur, Dec 27: Qaumi Sikh Morcha, led by its president Advocate Kulwinder Singh, expressed heartfelt condolences on the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, hailing him as an “Ajatashatru” — a man without enemies — in Indian politics.

Advocate Kulwinder Singh remarked that the outpouring of tributes transcending political and social boundaries reflects the unparalleled respect Dr. Singh commanded during and after his lifetime.

In a poignant gesture, Kulwinder Singh has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the government to bestow the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor, on Dr. Singh posthumously. He emphasized Dr. Singh’s monumental contributions to the nation’s economic and political landscape.

Advocate Kulwinder Singh highlighted Dr. Singh’s transformative role in shaping modern India’s economic framework. From his tenure as Finance Secretary to his leadership as Finance Minister and Prime Minister, Dr. Singh spearheaded groundbreaking reforms that paved the way for India’s emergence as a global economic powerhouse.

A quiet leader behind India’s economic rise

“India’s standing among developed nations today is the result of the economic reforms initiated by Dr. Manmohan Singh,” said Kulwinder Singh. He lauded Dr. Singh’s silent yet impactful leadership, contrasting it with the current era of publicized initiatives that, he believes, have yet to match Dr. Singh’s achievements.

While Dr. Singh faced criticism during his tenure for challenges such as currency fluctuations and border intrusions, Kulwinder Singh urged detractors to objectively evaluate his legacy. “If those who criticized him examine the current situation, they will find that it is far worse than during his time,” he stated, adding, “His quiet resolve and behind-the-scenes work achieved results that loud announcements and advertisements have yet to replicate.”

The call for awarding the Bharat Ratna to Dr. Manmohan Singh is gaining momentum, with many echoing the sentiment that his contributions to India’s development and his unblemished record in politics make him a deserving recipient. The Qaumi Sikh Morcha’s appeal to honor Dr. Singh’s legacy symbolizes the nation’s gratitude for a leader whose quiet dedication transformed India.
