Ramgarh, Jan 11: Notorious criminal Rahul Turi was killed today in an encounter with the police in the Murpa area, under the jurisdiction of Kuju police station in Ramgarh district.
The operation was led by Charhi police station in-charge Gautam Kumar, along with sub-inspector Mukesh Kumar. After the encounter, senior officials, including the Ramgarh SP, Hazaribagh SP, Headquarters DSP, SDPO, and in-charges from multiple police stations, reached the scene with a substantial police force.
The Charhi police station in-charge had received a tip-off that Rahul Turi, also known as Akash Turi, a most-wanted criminal, had arrived in the Murpa area on a bike with an accomplice, planning to commit a crime. Acting on this intelligence, the police team pursued the suspects and tracked them to a dense forest in Murpa.

During the chase, Rahul Turi attempted to escape and opened fire on the police. In self-defence, the police retaliated, resulting in an exchange of gunfire. Rahul Turi was shot in the process, and his accomplice was captured. Upon reaching the site, the police recovered Rahul Turi’s body.
Rahul Turi was a feared criminal in the Ramgarh district of Jharkhand and was also wanted by the Ranchi police. After leaving the militant organization TSPC, he formed his own group, known as the Alok Gang. He was involved in multiple crimes, including arson and shootings, particularly in the Budhmu and Khalari areas of Ranchi.
One of his most infamous crimes was an attack on the Chhappar Balu Ghat in Budhmu, which led to the issuance of a warrant for his arrest. In retaliation, Rahul’s gang brazenly set fire to three trucks in the Khalari area.
