Jharkhand News: Ranchi villagers vow to conserve biodiversity

Ranchi, Aug 16: The villagers of Lalgutwa around 15 km away from the state capital vowed to conserve local biodiversity and focus on using and flourishing medicinal herbs in the region.

At the meeting held at Lagutwa Panchayat Bhawan organized first time by the Jharkhand Biodiversity Board, villagers took a keen interest in programme and showed eagerness to join in this ambitious project and take benefit of the plan.

Sanjeev Kumar, Member Secretary and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Jharkhand Biodiversity Board said that the meeting was organized with the Panchayat chief and villagers to raise awareness about biodiversity conservation on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day.

“Besides biodiversity conservation we (Jharkhand Biodiversity Board) also made the villagers who appeared in large numbers aware about the benefit from water conservation and the importance of biodiversity for livelihood”, said Sanjiv Kumar CEO of Jharkhand Biodiversity Board.

Sanjeev Kumar extended heartfelt Independence Day greetings to villagers and urged them to work with the Board in the conservation of local biodiversity.

Lagutwa Panchayat Mukhiya Mangal Pahan and ward members, women and local villagers highly appreciated the programme of the Jharkhand Biodiversity Board and assured implementation project for the conservation of biodiversity.

Sanjiv Kumar also assured villagers of providing support as much as possible. The attendees discussed their cooperation in environmental protection and described traditional methods of using medicinal herbs.

Hari Shankar Lal, technical officer of the Board, Dheerendra Kumar, technical assistant, Pallawi Bharti, Chotu Kumar, Manoj Kumar, Rajesh Kumar, Sanju Devi and others attended the programme and discussed the benefits of the project.
