Jamshedpur, Sept 25: Tata Steel came up with the newly renovated chess training facility at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, offering aspiring chess players a world-class environment to hone their skills.

The renovated chess training facility was inaugurated last evening by Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel along with Grand Master Pravin Thipsay in the presence of Mukul Vinayak Choudhari, Chief, Sports, Tata Steel, Sanjay Kumar Singh of Tata Workers’ Union (Chairman of Sports Advisory Committee), Neeraj Kumar Mishra, International Master, N K Tiwary, General Secretary, East Singhbhum Chess, Vibhuti Adesara, Sports (Events & Training Centres), Deepak Kumar, Joint Secretary, All Jharkhand Chess Association, Champa Dolan Bose, student of first batch of Tata Steel Chess Training Centre.

Chanakya Chaudhary said he is delighted to announce the opening of the newly renovated Chess Training Centre and that the facility has been completely revamped to provide a modern and conducive space for chess training and development.

Modern features to enhance Chess training

The renovated facility now boasts a spacious enhanced area of 150 square meters, complete with separate training centres for beginners and advanced players.

Additionally, a 30-square-meter office and library have been retained to cater to the administrative and research needs of the chess academy.

To ensure optimal comfort and performance, the facility has been equipped with air conditioning units in both the beginner and advanced training centres. These units will create a pleasant and focused environment for players during intense training sessions.

The renovation of the chess training facility is part of Tata Steel`s ongoing commitment to promoting sports and providing top-notch facilities to athletes.

The training centre aims to nurture young chess talent and create a platform for Indian chess players to excel at the national and international levels.

Oldest chess centre in India

The Chess Training Centre, in operation since 1989, has already trained over 4500 cadets.

This is the oldest chess centre in India. It holds coaching camps regularly and conducts class examinations every three months to promote students from beginner to intermediate and advanced levels.

In addition to chess training, students also receive instruction in yoga, meditation, and physical fitness workouts.
