Daltonganj April 3: The ‘General’ of the Sri Mahavir Nav Yuvak Dal, Jugal Kishore, has, in a press note, asked the Ram Bhakts to ‘limit the height of the Mahabir Jhanda to 18 feet and the width of the Rath to 14 feet only’.
“Any increase in the height and width would be a big problem of navigating the Toran Dwar,” wrote Jugal Kishore.
The height of the Mahavir Jhandas matters most in areas where the overhead electricity wires are either loose, sagging and uncabled.
The officer in charge of the town police station Deobrat Poddar said, “We have been telling the faithful to restrict the height and width as suggested by the chief of the Sri Mahavir Nav Yuvak Dal Jugal Kishore without fail.”

Electricity Official Highlights Safety Measures
The Jharkhand Story correspondent spoke to the Executive Engineer of Electricity, Daltonganj circle, Santosh Kumar to know what precautions are required to avoid any contact with the overhead electricity wires.
“Safety is the most important of all. The height of the religious flag must be far below the height of the overhead electricity wires,” said the Executive Engineer of Electricity.
Overhead electricity wires are strung on two types of poles. One is the rail pole of electricity. The average height of the overhead electricity wires of the rail pole is above 22 feet.
The other type of electricity pole is a cement pole and the height of the overhead electricity wires of the cement pole is around 20 feet.
Santosh Kumar said, “It’s always safe to be three or four feet down from the height of the overhead electricity wires. There is no wisdom in getting too near the electricity.”
