Dhanbad, April 11: Dhanbad police seized Rs 2.5 lakh cash from a car on the Maithon Check Post near the Jharkhand–Bengal border under the Maithon police station area, around 48 km away from the district headquarters.
Maithon police station officer-in-charge Rajnish Kumar told media persons that the car carrying Rs 2.5 lakh was going to Giridih district of Jharkhand from Kolkata. The police squad recovered the cash from the car during a check-up at around 9 pm on Wednesday.

“The cash owners claimed that they are land businessmen and going to Giridih for trading activities. However, they failed to show relevant paper for carrying the cash. The IT cell of the district has been informed about the recovery of cash.
After the visit of Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar, the Dhanbad administration has launched a massive checking at inter-state entry and exit points and the inter-district border. As per official report, since March 16, the Dhanbad police have seized Rs 50 lakh cash and 30 kg silver so far.
