THE JHARKHAND STORY NETWORK

Daltonganj, December 23: Sansad Khel Mahotsav (SKM) saw a rare but highly enthusiastic participation of the Didis of the Sakhi Mandals in the Palamu Lok Sabha constituency.

BJP MP Vishnu Dayal Ram, describing the participation of the Didis as a unique thing, said the Sakhi Mandals, also called Self-Help Groups (SHG) of women, created a new script for themselves and Palamu. Their participations were tremendous and valuable too.

Empowering faceless women

“Such a beautiful participation of these faceless women in the SKM shows the power of women’s empowerment in Palamu and Garhwa districts”, reiterated the MP.

While these unrecognised women showed the way in the Sansad Khel Mahotsav, a couple of sports associations and organisations maintained aloofness from the Mahotsav.

MP who hardly publicly names people or organisations that either stand aloof from the events or are critical of him and the events, said, “There were some sports associations and organisations which remained distant from the Mahotsav.”

He declined to identify the names of the associations and organisations, saying”They fall in the Garhwa district.”

Asked if sports politics made these associations and organisations indifferent to this Sansad Khel Mahotsav, to which MP said, “The Khel Mahotsav was all free even without a tinge of politics anywhere.”

Overcoming fund constraints

Fund crunch pervaded the Mahotsav. “There was no government fund for. All fiscal resources were to be mobilised individually. There were many who poured in significant fund but I tell you I don’t have any big list of the philanthropists,” said the MP.

Fund crunch was the biggest challenge, which the MP said was overcome with shoe string strategy.

Sporting talent on display

District president of the BJP in Palamu, Amit Tiwary, said, “The Mahotsav saw a union of local sportsmen and gold winning squad of players. It was a galaxy of the local and international touch and flavour of sportsmen.”

Amit Tiwary further said, “On the day of the launching, November 2, it looked like a confluence of local sportsmen rubbing shoulders with the foreign return winners.”

Following the inclement weather, the concluding ceremony of this Sansad Khel Mahotsav has been shifted from Police line ground to the Pdt Deen Dayal Upadhyay Smriti Bhavan in Daltonganj, where the Prime Minister Narendra Modi digitally present on Wednesday, December 25.

The Sansad Khel Mahotsav had a mix of all, from badminton to football to khokho etc.

The MP gave a hint of such a Mahotsav here every year from now onwards. Senior BJP leader Sheo Kumar Mishra was present at the press conference of the MP.

This Sansad Khel Mahotsav brought the faceless and nameless sportsmen to the limelight, whom the people of his Palamu Lok Sabha constituency saw and believed, added Ram.
