Jamshedpur, Oct 24: All schools- private English medium and government- will remain closed tomorrow due to the severe cyclonic storm Dana.

The cyclone is surging towards the Bengal-Odisha coast, with landfall expected between Bhitarkanika and Dhamara in northern Odisha, approximately 350 km from Kolkata, during the night between Thursday and Friday.

The East Singhbhum district administration came out with a notice declaring the closure of schools tomorrow due to the cyclone.

A senior official of Rajendra Vidyalaya School said, ” The school will remain closed tomorrow in view of instructions received from the district administration regarding cyclone Dana. The second term examination which was supposed to take place tomorrow will be rescheduled. ”

Meanwhile, an ‘orange’ alert has been issued in the Kolhan region (West Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharswan and East Singhbhum districts) for Friday, October 25.

This category of alert indicates heavy rainfall ranging from 115 mm to 204 mm in 24 hours.

“Apart from heavy rain, the region might also experience thunderstorms and gusty winds with speeds of up to 60 Kmph,” Ranchi Meteorological Centre in-charge Abhishek Anand told The Jharkhand Story.
