Ranchi, Feb 22: Sido Kanhu Murmu University (SKMU) Dumka on Thursday sent a list of its 2008 batch teachers to the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) for promotion.
SKMU Teachers Association general secretary Dr Santosh Kumar Sil, giving this information, said that after proper screening through experts from different states, a list of 125 teachers has been sent to the JPSC for their promotion.
“After three months of preparation and getting it screened through experts of Shantiniketan, Patna University, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and other premium institutions we were able to prepare the list”, said Dr Sil.
Senior faculty members of the university Dr SL Bondya, Dr Rajesh Yadav and others were also involved in preparing the list.
The teachers appointed in 2008 in the universities of Jharkhand have not been given a single promotion in 16 years so far. At the same time their counterparts in Bihar have become associate professors.

VBU Hazaribag sends list, Kolhan University’s list pending
Vinoba Bhave University (VBU) Hazaribagh has already sent a list of teachers to the JPSC while in Kolhan University (KU) Chaibasa’s list is pending in the university office in the absence of a regular vice-chancellor.
General secretary of Kolhan University Teachers Association (KUTA) Dr Indal Paswan informed that the screened committee has already cleared the list of 175 teachers. Since the university does not have a regular vice-chancellor at present list has not been sent to JPSC as only after the signing of the V-C list can be sent for promotion.
BBMKU Dhanbad yet to rise from slumber
In Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) promotion process for 2008 batch teachers is still uncertain.
Newly elected general secretary of BBMKU Teachers Association Dr Amulya Suman Beck when contacted on Thursday said that the Association is serious for it and through the Vice-Chancellor of the university (Dr Pawan Kumar Poddar) two reminder letters have been sent to Raj Bhawan and JPSC regarding pending promotion of 2008 batch teachers.
In fact, neither the elected body of BBMKUTA nor the teachers of the 2008 batch are serious about promotion. At its first executive body meet held on January 5, the BBMKUTA decided to create a Mail group in which 2008 batch teachers will upload their claims for promotion.
Interestingly even 48 days after the first executive body meet, neither Mail group has been created nor has any teacher raised the issue so far.
