Jamshedpur, Dec 5: Students of the School of Engineering and Technology at Sona Devi University, Ghatshila, undertook an industrial visit to the Musabani Concentrator Plant of Hindustan Copper Limited’s Indian Copper Complex (ICC) on Friday.
The educational tour aimed to provide students with first-hand exposure to mining operations, metallurgical processes, and modern industrial practices.
During the visit, students learned about the scientific methods used to refine and enrich copper ore sourced from the Surda, Rakha, and other mines, as well as the procedures involved in extracting high-purity copper.

HCL’s Deputy General Manager J.P. Mishra, Senior Officer M.Z. Khan, and Electrical Department’s Shweta Kumari briefed the students on plant operations, including crushing, grinding, flotation processes, quality control mechanisms, and mandatory safety protocols.
They also emphasized the importance of industrial discipline and workplace safety standards.
The visit provided students with practical insights into mining, mechanical, electrical, and process engineering applications, helping them strengthen their technical understanding and industrial perspective.
They were also informed about various career opportunities in the industrial and technological sectors.

The academic team accompanying the students included Pooja Tiwari, Head of the Engineering Department; Vinay Prakash Choudhary, Head of the Mechanical Department; and Training & Placement Cell representatives Siddhant Kumar and Dr. Neelmani Kumar.
