Jamshedpur, April 22: St. John’s High School observed Earth Day with a series of engaging activities aimed at raising awareness about environmental conservation and sustainability.

The morning commenced with a lively skit performed by junior school students, illustrating the significance of preserving our planet. Through creative storytelling, they emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship and the collective responsibility to protect Earth’s natural resources.

‘Planet vs Plastics’

Following the skit, high school students delivered insightful speeches highlighting the purpose of Earth Day and its integration into the national agenda. They elucidated on this year’s theme, “Planet versus Plastics,” shedding light on the detrimental effects of plastic pollution on ecosystems and biodiversity.

Under the guidance of Eco Club teacher Shabnam, students enthusiastically took the Earth Day pledge, vowing to champion eco-friendly practices and promote sustainability within their school community.

As part of their commitment, St. John’s High School declared itself a “no plastic zone” and pledged to reduce single-use plastic, thereby contributing to the improvement of planetary health.

Class discussion on ways to protect Earth

The middle school students actively participated in a class discussion, exchanging ideas on practical ways to protect the Earth and minimize environmental impact. Their enthusiasm and engagement underscored the school’s dedication to instilling environmental consciousness among its student body.

Through these initiatives, St. John’s High School reaffirms its commitment to environmental stewardship and cultivates a generation of environmentally responsible global citizens.
