Dhanbad, Oct 22: The Jharia Division of Tata Steel has been awarded the esteemed ‘Five Star Ratings’ at the ‘Star Rating Awards for Coal & Lignite Mines,’ organized by the Ministry of Coal at the SCOPE Convention Centre in New Delhi.
The Jharia division’s Jamadoba Colliery secured the third position, while the Sijua Colliery received the “Achiever Prize,” both in the underground mines category for the assessment year 2022-23.

Sanjay Rajoria, General Manager, and Kousik Gayen, Head of Planning for the Jharia Division, accepted the awards from G. Kishan Reddy, Minister of Coal and Mines, and Satish Chandra Dubey, Minister of State for Coal and Mines. Senior officials from the Ministry of Coal were also in attendance.

Previously, four underground collieries within the Jharia Division received several accolades in earlier Star Rating assessments for the years 2019-20, 2020-21, and 2021-22.
These awards reflect the Jharia Division’s commitment to excellence in mining operations and dedication to safe and sustainable mining practices.
