Jamshedpur, April 14: Unidentified criminals shot a 40-year-old truck driver near Vasundhara Colony under Ulidih thana area along the NH-33 in Mango on Sunday afternoon.
The murder victim was identified as Sanjay Yadav alias Sunny Yadav, who was a resident of Baridih locality of the steel city.
Incident happens near Vasundhara Colony
The murder took place at around 12.30 pm when Sunny was getting the truck he would drive repaired at a motor garage near the Vasundhara Colony.
As Sunny was standing at the motor garage, two bike-borne criminals arrived there and fired as many as six shots at him, causing him to die on the spot.
As soon as the incident took place, a sensation triggered in the area, leading the inquisitive people to gather at the crime scene. BJP leader Vikash Singh also reached the spot, followed by a police team from the Ulidih thana. The truck owner concerned also reached the spot soon after.
The police found two empty cartridges on the spot and have started an investigation into the murder.
The police are also trying to get the assailants identified by collecting CCTV footage from near the crime scene.
Reason yet to be ascertained
“The reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained. We are trying to identify the assailants’ identity by taking CCTV footage from near the crime scene, ” said Anuj Kumar, OC, Ulidih Thana, while talking to The Jharkhand Story.
