Two killed after bus hits scooty near Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, April 10: Two persons including a woman were fatally injured as the Scooty they were riding was hit by a bus on NH-33 near Jamshedpur on Thursday morning.

The mishap took place as the victims were riding towards Barabanki from Pardih at about 8.00 am when the bus hit them from behind at Barabanki about 25 km away from the heart of the city. As a result of the mishap, both the riders were flung off.

Identified as Rajesh Soren (43) and Anjana Mahto (34) who were flung away whereas the Scooty got stuck in the bonate of the speeding bus.

Bus Driver Flees the Spot

The bus, Pani Coach, which was going to Bhubaneswar from Jamshedpur stopped about two km away still the Scooty was stuck in its bonate. The driver of the bus, however, managed to escape abandoning the bus filled with its passengers.

On the other hand, those who were writhing in pain on the national highway were rushed by a police party to the MGM Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH) where they succumbed to their injuries within hours.

Victims Were Employees of Astha Company

A police officer of the MGM thana stated despite being critically injured both Rajesh Soren and Anjana Mahto were able to talk till some time during which Soren revealed about his family who reside at Zone No 10 in Birsanagar.

“Later we got to know from Soren’s widow that both the victims would work in Astha Company and were going to the company’s Barabanki office from its Pardhih office when the mishap took place, ” said the officer while talking to The Jharkhand Story.

The police officer said the bus had been seized, adding that they were trying to arrest the driver.
