Jamshedpur, Nov 12: A potential disaster was narrowly avoided on Wednesday morning when an unmanned freight train barreled into another stationary goods train at Adityapur Railway Yard, near Sharma Basti.
The incident occurred around 9:45 a.m., causing massive damage but, fortunately, no loss of life.
Eyewitnesses said the runaway freight train, reportedly moving without an engine, broke through the yard’s boundary wall before colliding head-on with a parked goods train.

The impact was so powerful that several wagons derailed and climbed over each other, triggering panic among nearby workers and residents.

Efforts to clear the damaged wagons and restore normal operations began immediately.
Preliminary investigations suggest a possible brake failure, technical fault, or operational lapse behind the incident.
