Daltonganj, April 7: The magistrates were as visible as the cops this Ramnavmi festival here in Palamu.

Cops are identified by their Khakhi. The magistrates had colourful fluorescent jackets. They could be spotted anywhere.
City Commissioner Md Jawed Husaain told the Jharkhand Story correspondent, “All the magistrates had these fluorescent jackets. It made them distinct from others in the sea of humans.”

Visible cops and visible magistrates help manage 70 per cent of the crowd. Palamu administration did this in abundance.

Here there were no eyes that didn’t meet the both. The mix of Khakhi and the fluorescent jacket was no outlandish at all. Sadar SDO Sulochana Meena wore it. So like many others.

Women and Children Moved Freely
“Women and children who came out in the street without being accompanied by the male members at night and also at the wee hours of night made us reassured that this mass festival would pass off smoothly and on a note of understanding as to how on earth girls, children and women would be so swarming the scenes without their men ahead or behind them,” said the SP Reeshma Ramesan.
SP Reeshma Ramesan further said, “Hats off to the commoners, the organisers, the committee that felicitated the Sri Mahavir Nav Yuvak Dal who adhered to the cause of law. There was a considerable traffic diversion. It was followed by rule and not in exception.”
Strict Accountability and Sleepless Vigilance
The Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s fiat that in the event of any disturbance in the Ramnavmi festival the DC and the SP would be straightway accountable and responsible for explanation, made them and their teams to leave nothing to chance.
Sources said the two tops of Palamu district knew a sacrifice of sleep would usher in a happier day ahead and the two and others did exactly the same. Palamu administration kept awake all night!
