PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, Jan 10:  The eighth edition of Dhwani, a youth conclave organised by Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) will kick-off at the Michael John Auditorium in Bistupur here tomorrow.

The two-day conclave will see the participation of nearly 327 young leaders and 23 changemakers from Jharkhand, Odisha and neighbouring West Bengal.

Theme Focused on Digital Pathways and Sustainable Development

The theme for this year is – From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development – focussing on cyber safety, scope of artificial intelligence, separating facts from fiction in an era of information overload and understanding the digital scope of meeting sustainable development goals (SDGs).

The two-day conclave will witness reflective sessions titled ‘Life Balance Sheet’ that seek to encourage the youth to look within themselves, introspect on their purpose and journey and set their personal roadmaps.

The conclave seeks to bring together young leaders who stand at the brink of challenges in the distant future like climate crisis, sustainability, digital transformations and ever-perplexing world of artificial intelligence.

Swapnil Agarwal from Dhwani Rural Information Systems, Pravin Nikam from Samata Center and Nasreen Jamal from International Center for Research on Women, are part of the panel of guests who will conduct informative and interactive sessions while engaging in meaningful discussions to resolve queries and promote dialogue as an important aspect of the growth journey of young adults.

Felicitation of Changemakers and Launch of Coffee Table Book

The conclave will felicitate 23 changemakers for their exceptional contribution to their respective communities through social reforms, awareness programmes, workshops, fighting diligently for things that matter to them and enabling irreversible change through knowledge sharing and implementation.

The launch of a coffee table book, titled – Where the Mind is Without Fear – taking a cue from Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore’s poem, which encompasses the journey of Dhwani through the lens of young changemakers who are poised to become future leaders, will also be launched on the occasion.

Pre-Conclave Cleanliness Drive

The conclave will begin with an early morning cleanliness drive titled, ‘Badlao ke Doot’, at Satnala Dam, also known as the Dobo Dam between 7-8 a.m.

Considering it a popular picnic spot, the drive is expected to happen there to instil a sense of ownership and responsibility towards the public spaces.

Around 350 youth, volunteers, and organising team members comprising nearly 400 people and more will join the drive.

The cleanliness drive is conducted every year as an integral part of the conclave, given the current challenges of separating trash or promoting dedicated garbage dump spaces among the citizens.
