THE JHARKHAND STORY NETWORK

Daltonganj, Nov 24: Neither the state Congress nor the AICC has any answer to the bungle election in Palamu. It left those who could have won seats for the party.

The Congress dropped Devender Kumar Singh alias Bittu Singh from Panki. He stood second to the BJP’s Kushwaha Shashibhushan Mehta as an independent.

KN Tripathy’s loss highlights leadership neglect

Similarly, the Congress left K N Tripathi to his own fate as if his victory or defeat was immaterial.

Tripathi has more political stuff in him than many Ranchi-based leaders of his party who have a long list of defeats but manoeuvre and manipulate to be at the centre of the party there.

The defeat of K N Tripathi, Congress candidate for the Daltonganj assembly constituency is in fact a defeat of the Congress leadership both at the state level and at the AICC level.

Will state in-charge Ghulam Ahmad Mir explain as to why on earth Tripathy was so forsaken by the party?

A regional party like RJD made his Tejashwi Yadav to campaign for his candidates here in Palamu while the national party Congress looked skywards.

JMM’s priorities and Congress discord aid BJP’s strategy

There came no leader of even a minimal stature of the Congress from Ranchi or from Delhi to show solidarity with Tripathi here. He was left alone to fend for himself. He fought bravely.

Did the JMM do any political work for Tripathi? No. There was no support of the JMM for Tripathi. If political gossips are to be believed then the JMM looked not only distanced from Tripathy but more disposed towards Namdhari’s son Dilip.

The JMM workers jumped to Garhwa to campaign for Mithilesh Kumar Thakur who lost his seat by more than 16,000 votes while here Tripathy’s loss is well below one thousand.

Even the district unit of the Congress party remained aloof from Tripathi. It created hindrances more and like JMM wished Tripathy to lose.

Tripathi has his strong conviction that his votes were stolen. His votes were denied to him. He was cheated by the administration.

The BJP made the best use of this alienation of the JMM and the Congress from Tripathi.

BJP’s Alok Chourasiya secures hat-trick victory

The hat trick by BJP candidate for Daltonganj assembly constituency Alok Kr Chourasiya is less an individual feat for Alok but more a compensation for the BJP which alone lost three out of the five assembly constituencies in Palamu.

Palamu had 4+1 (Kamlesh Kumar Singh) BJP MLAs here before it went to polls.

The BJP lost Hussainabad, Chhaterpur and Bishrampur assembly constituencies.

The third victory of Alok in three consecutive terms is in fact a poll disaster of his nearest rival K N Tripathi. He defeated Tripathi by few hundred votes only.

Alok won three times- 2014, 2019 and 2024. On the other hand Tripathi lost four elections like 2014 (Vidhan Sabha),  2019 (Vidhan sabha), 2024 ( Chatra Lok Sabha) and 2024 (Vidhan sabha election).

What does it mean to have Alok Kr Chourasiya to have Daltonganj MLA for the third consecutive term?

Alok is invisibly visible. In his past 10 years since 2014 to 2024 he had hardly held even half a dozen press conferences. He believes to be away.

However Alok has never been any malicious towards the Muslims. He has not done Hindu-Muslim game. He is equally soft towards the Christians knowing well that all is not well at Bhandarya and Bargar blocks where Christians call the shots and issue of religious conversion arises off and on.
