Ranchi, Oct 28: In Jharkhand’s upcoming assembly elections, the political landscape of Gumla district reflects a strong spirit of sacrifice and loyalty. While most leaders have chosen to step back in support of party unity, others are contemplating a different path. This report examines these pivotal choices, including the unique case of BJP’s young leader Misir Kujur, whose decisions could influence Gumla’s political future.

Kiranmala Bada – Loyalty Over Ambition in Sisai

Kiranmala Bada, a senior BJP leader in Sisai with influence over 30,000 to 40,000 votes, commands respect as a two-time district board chairman. Despite her initial move to buy a nomination form, she ultimately prioritized party loyalty over personal ambition by choosing not to contest. Her decision consolidates the BJP support in Sisai and strengthens unity by aligning her supporters with the official party candidate.

Dilip Baraik – A Unifying Voice in Gumla

Dilip Baraik, a BJP leader respected across Christian, Muslim, and tribal communities in Gumla, influences approximately 25,000 to 30,000 voters. As a district board member for Albert Ekka Block, Baraik chose to align with the BJP strategy rather than pursue an independent run. This decision bolsters the BJP’s voter base, presenting a unified front in Gumla.

Tembu Oraon

Tembu Oraon- Integrity First in Ghaghra

Tembu Oraon, known for his grassroots support, holds sway over 20,000 to 25,000 voters in Ghaghra’s Bishunpur area. Initially expressing interest by purchasing a nomination form, he later opted to withdraw, supporting BJP unity over personal aspirations. His choice resonates with his supporters as a commitment to integrity and the party’s collective mission.

Ashesh Barla

Ashesh Barla – Prioritizing Collective Goals in Sisai

Ashesh Barla, a BJP cell’s state convenor, has established influence in Sisai. He previously earned approximately 10,000 votes as an independent candidate. Though initially interested in running, he decided to support party cohesion, emphasizing collective goals and bolstering the BJP’s presence in Sisai.

Misir Kujur – Unyielding Despite Past Defeat

Misir Kujur, a young BJP leader, was previously granted the party ticket in 2019 but was unable to secure a win. Now, despite the strategic withdrawals of other leaders, Kujur remains firm in his decision to stay in the race. His continued presence suggests a strong commitment to his voter base, though it contrasts with the unity-focused approach adopted by other senior party figures.

While his grassroots support remains steady, Kujur’s decision not to withdraw could be viewed as a risk, especially given his earlier loss. His resolve to represent his constituency directly may offer him a chance at redemption, though it also places him in a challenging position within the party dynamics, potentially impacting his future standing with senior BJP leadership.

Laldev Bhagat – A Veteran’s Loyalty in Bishunpur

Laldev Bhagat, a senior Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader, influences around 15,000 to 20,000 voters in Bishunpur. Bhagat’s choice to forgo independent candidacy and remain loyal to JMM strengthens party unity, enhancing JMM’s standing in the area.

Bobby Bhagat – Congress’s Symbol of Unity in Bishunpur

Bobby Bhagat, an influential Congress figure with 10,000 to 15,000 votes in Bishunpur, opted not to run, displaying solidarity with the Congress. Her decision reinforces party unity, providing a foundation for Congress candidates in Bishunpur.

Impact on Gumla’s Electoral Landscape

The blend of sacrifice and loyalty in Gumla has shaped an unpredictable political scene. Leaders like Kujur, who are weighing strategic decisions, exemplify how dedication to party goals can shape a candidate’s future. As Gumla approaches the polls, these leaders’ choices will undoubtedly influence the district’s political trajectory in the years ahead.
