Ranchi, Jan 16: Emerging player of the state Sambhit Ramesh got the credit of wearing triple crowns in the 1st Ranchi Major Ranking Badminton organized by the Ranchi District Badminton Association at Khelgaon Indoor Stadium.
Right from Under-9 to 60 years veterans, a total of 43 events were organized in the championship.
Sunil Kumar, the Mission Director cum CEO of Jharkhand Skill Development and director of secondary education, was the chief guest in the closing ceremony and he along with S Ramesh, DIG, Home Guard, Dilip Tirkey, director of food department gave away prizes to successful players of the tournament.
Star of the tournament Sambhit Ramesh establishing his dominance bagged singles titles of under-13, under 15 and boys doubles title of under 17.
Five players, including top rank woman player Manisha Rani Tirkey, Ananya Singh, Binay Mahto, and V Bilung cornered the glory of winning double crowns in the tournament.

Manisha Rani Tirkey won women’s singles and doubles, Ananya Singh under -17 and under-19 singles titles, Binay Mahto bagged senior singles and 40+ singles title.
Tanus Ramesh clinched the singles title of the under-9 event while Kuldeep Kumar bagged the under-11 title. Jimmy Gerald Ekka and Ashu Gopal won the under-17 and under-19 titles respectively.
TD Sherpa won the under-35 men’s title while veteran l Avinash Tiwary clinched the +50 years and RK Jena +60 years title respectively. Earlier Subit Das won the singles title of the 54+ event.
Women’s Event
After Manisha Rani Tirkey and Ananya Singh, Prerna Some and Vaniya Khanna won under-11 and under-13 singles titles respectively. Puja Kumari bagged the singles title of under-15 years before Ananya Singh had won under -17, under-19 singles and Manisha Rani Tirkey women’s singles and doubles. Sarla Murmu bagged the 35+ event singles.
Chief guest Sunil Kumar highly appreciated the Ranchi District Badminton Association for holding the 1st Major Ranking Badminton tournament and said that such types of event would encourage and provide an opportunity for players of all age groups to participate.
