Dhanbad, February 14: Senior residents of all six medical colleges will soon get proper representation in the newly formed state body of Junior Doctors Network (JDN).
Giving this information, JDN Jharkhand chapter president Dr Vikash Kumar of Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) Ranchi said on Wednesday that the committee’s meeting will be convened soon to expand the network.
IMA Jharkhand chapter
On the directive of the national body, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Jharkhand chapter had on January 31 constituted 13 members of the Junior Doctors Network (JDN) state chapter under Dr Vikash Kumar, a senior resident of RIMS Ranchi as president and Dr Raghvendra Kumar, a post-graduate student, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College Hospital MGMMCH) Jamshedpur as secretary.

Resentment among senior residents
After the formation of JDN, resentment was brewing among senior residents, especially in Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College (SNMMCH) Dhanbad, over nominal representation in the state body.
JDN secretary Dr Raghvendra Kumar also said that he would discuss the grievances of senior residents with the concerned authorities.
All India Senior Resident Federation
Dr Vikash Kumar, who has been elected chief advisor of All India Senior Resident Federation for a consecutive second term, said that the JDN state body was constituted on short notice and for the time being, it was tried to give symbolic representation to senior residents of all six medical colleges of the state. More office bearers would be accommodated in it soon, he added.
“The JDN has vast area and comprehensive plans for the welfare of senior residents which can’t be executed merely through 13 members committee. JDN requires at least 50 more office bearers to execute and head different wings, such as the academic and cultural. “It will be possible only by participation and representation of senior residents of all six medical colleges of state”, said the JDN president.
However, Dr Vikash Kumar regretted that most senior residents shy away from participating in the junior doctors association programmes and do not come forward to show interest in the JDN. Dr Vikash Kumar is also president of the Junior Doctors Association RIMS, Ranchi.
According to IMA state body secretary Dr Pradip Kumar Singh, now the JDN will deal with medical colleges-related issues under the IMA supervision.
