Dhanbad, Oct 11: Jharkhand karatekas dominated the opening day of the 10th All India Bushikan Karate Championship, which kicked off on Friday at the Nehru Sports Complex in Koyla Nagar, Dhanbad.

The two-day national championship features over 300 senior, junior, and sub-junior karatekas from Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, and Jharkhand, competing across multiple categories.

The event was inaugurated by Aman Raj, Chief Vigilance Officer of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), who graced the opening ceremony as the chief guest. The championship is being organised by the International Shotokan Karate Kyokai.

Also present at the inaugural ceremony were Reza Ishtiaq, Senior Vice President of the Dhanbad District Olympic Association; Ajay Mahajan, Vice President; Pawan Barnwal, Treasurer; Major Ravi Pratap; and Ranjit Keshari, Chief Instructor of the International Shotokan Karate Kyokai.

First Day Events and Medal Winners

Chief Instructor Ranjit Keshri informed that the first day featured competitions in the cadet, junior, and senior categories, with Jharkhand athletes excelling across events.

Gold Medal Winners:
Ratnesh Pathak, Ramswaroop Hembram, Himanshu Yadav, Prince Raj, Kumar Vatsal, Shubhra Verma, Priya Keshari, Kaushiki Singh, Pragati, Priya, Swikriti Singh, Shambhavi Daksh, and Riddhi Priya.

Silver Medal Winners:
Aditya Kumar, Akshay Kant, Aman Kumar, Shaurya Banerjee, Apoorva Anand, Karuna Kumari, Lakshmi Kumari, Anushka Kumari, Riddhi Priya, Swasti, Rewa Giri, and Sanchit Mukherjee.

Officials Overseeing the Championship

Technical officials supervising the championship include Manoj Sharma, Rajesh Yadav, Suraj Verma, Dilip Yadav, Shrimant Mukherjee, Rajesh Kumar Chaudhary, Panne Lal Yadav, Mamta Pandey, Uday Shankar Bharti, Sonamoti Kumari, Julie Kumari, Deepak Shahi, Mrityunjay Kumar, Krishna Kumar Shaw, Saurav Bharti, and Samriddhi Kumari.

The championship continues on Saturday with the remaining events and final bouts, as participants aim for top honours in this prestigious national martial arts competition.
