Ranchi, June 27: The 13th Ranchi District Badminton Tournament began today at the Thakur Vishwanath Shahdeo Indoor Stadium in Khel Gaon. The three-day tournament is being organized by the Badminton Association of Ranchi District (BARD).
The championship was inaugurated by Sunil Kumar, who attended the event as the chief guest. BARD Secretary N.K. Dey informed that more than 400 participants — including boys, girls, men, and women — are taking part in various categories.
The competition features singles and doubles matches across several age groups: under-9, 11, 13, 15, 17, and 19, as well as veteran categories for players aged 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, and 75 years and above.

Under-15:
– Goodwin Ekka defeated Arul Kumar 15-14, 15-11
– Rakshit Mudgil beat S. Gautam 15-07, 15-12
Under-13:
– Atharv W. Singh beat Tanus Ramesh 15-10, 14-15, 15-14
– Mandeep Kumar defeated Vihan Kisku 15-14, 15-12
– Manas Ranjan beat Aman Shreeyukt 15-10, 15-07
BARD Secretary N.K. Dey announced that the prize distribution ceremony will be held on June 29 at 7 PM. Shekhar Jamuar (IAS), Director of Sports, will attend as the chief guest.
