Dhanbad, April 22: Anmol Murarka of West Singhbhum won the first unrated chess championship of the state which concluded at the Chamber of Commerce Building in Jamshedpur.
Anmol bagged the highest 7 points in the seven rounds championship to get the glory of being the first unrated chess champion of Jharkhand. In the final round, he defeated Abhinav Prakash of Saraikela district and bagged the cash prize of Rs 8000.
Twelve-year-old Trishanou Mukherjee of Saraikela became runner-up with 6.5 points. He was also unbeaten in the championship. But Aniket Gupta (5.5 points) of Jamshedpur held him to a draw.
Nine players got six points each but on the basis of progressive point Abhinav Prakash (Saraikela), Sarwar Ali, Shashank Kumar, (Jamshedpur), Abhi Kumar ( Saraikela), Higynashu Kumar Shaurya ( Hazaribagh), Aniket Kumar Sinha ( Saraikela) , Rishav Mahali, Prerna Pan ( Jamshedpur), Joshef Kewra (West Singhbhum) got 3rd to 11 position.

Aniket Gupta (5.5 points) of Jamshedpur got 12th position while 18 players Adwit Yadav, Kanisk Kasera, Arnab Kayal, Rudra Pratap Singh, Karthik V, Sankalp kumar, Saarath kedia, Ayush Mishra, Nitya Bharti, Siddhant Panda, Arpita Kumari, Abhishek Jha, Kabir Kedia, Sachith arun Harthisa, Rudransh, Vikash kumar, Awanish Pandey, Karan Yadav earned 5 points each to figured in prize list.
The championship was organized by the East Singhbhum District Chess Association in which 208 unrated players of Jharkhand participated. First International Arbiter (IA) Jayant Bhuyan of Jamshedpur was the chief arbiter, Vishal Kumar Minj of West Singhbhum and Bikram Kumar of Saraikela-Kharsawan were arbiters of the tournament.
Tournament director Ajay Kumar of Saraikela said that the main aim of this championship was to give an opportunity to unrated players of state to show their talent and many of them surfaced in it.
The tournament was sponsored by Trinetra Eye Hospital Adityapur. Vivek Kedia and Aditya Sahu were also present on the occasion.
West Singhbhum District Chess Association general secretary Basant Khandelwal congratulated his player Anmol Murarka for victory in the championship. Murarka is a student of his academy.
