Jamshedpur, June 20: Three students of Jamshedpur’s Little Flower School made a mark at the CISCE Zonal Chess Selection Trials, earning their spots in the upcoming Regional Chess Championship.

The two-day selection trials were hosted by Loyola School, Telco.

In the Under-19 Boys category, Darsh Gaurav stunned everyone with a second-place finish. What makes Darsh’s achievement extraordinary is his age—just 12 years old—still eligible to play in the Under-14 division.

However, driven by a spirit of challenge and excellence, he competed in the Under-19 category and emerged as one of the top players. His fearless gameplay and strategic brilliance were a testament to his extraordinary potential.

Joining Darsh on the path of success was V. Akash, who exhibited outstanding focus and resilience to clinch the 3rd position in the same category, also qualifying for the Regional level. His consistent and composed play won him praise and a place among the zone’s best.

In the Under-14 Girls category, Anushka Singh, a Class VI student, delivered a commanding performance. She played six high-pressure matches, winning five and losing just one to secure 2nd position, booking her ticket to the regional championship. Her calm, calculated moves and focus stood out throughout the tournament.

These brilliant performances reflect not only the students’ deep understanding of the game but also their ability to perform under pressure, exemplifying sportsmanship and determination.

The school congratulated Darsh, Akash, and Anushka for their inspiring achievements and wished them continued success at the Regional Chess Championship.

Their journey is a powerful reminder that age is no barrier when courage, passion, and dedication lead the way.
