Dhanbad, May 12: Shahbaz Khan and Monika Kumari were declared the fastest man and woman sprinters of Dhanbad district after clinching gold in the 100m race at the 39th Dhanbad District Athletics Championship. The two-day event concluded on Sunday evening at the Mega Sports Complex.

According to District Athletics Association General Secretary Bandhan Toppo, around 300 athletes participated in various events across different age groups.

“Based on their performances, the Dhanbad team will be selected for the upcoming Jharkhand State Athletics Championship,” said Toppo.

The closing ceremony was attended by several dignitaries who played key roles in organizing the championship successfully. These included Treasurer and former Senior Vice-President of Jharkhand Olympic Association Zubair Alam, Tarak Nath Das, PN Bannerji, Sunil Mishra, Pradeep Ghosh, Jayram Bhagat, Abhijit Patra, Sarfraz Khan, Shailesh Kumar, Aniket Dubey, Sujit Gorai, Vinay Sharma, Vivek Kumar Singh, Basanti Kumari, Jaya Pramanik, Jyoti Kumari, Chhaya Kumari, Papiya Sindhu Roy, Jolly Sarkar, and Pradeep Kumar.
