Dhanbad, Jan 8: The West Singhbhum District Chess Association (WSDCA) will host the 5th Navin Kumar Sinha Memorial All India Rapid Chess Open Tournament with a prize fund of Rs 1 lakh. The tournament will take place on January 26 at the St Xavier’s Welfare Centre in Chaibasa.

Tournament Details

WSDCA General Secretary Basant Khandelwal shared that the event will feature nine rounds, with each round lasting 10 minutes plus a 5-second increment.

The one-day tournament is open to players of all age groups from across the country. The last date for entries is January 20.

International Arbiter Vishal Kumar Minj will serve as the chief arbiter of the tournament, with Juel Gagrai as the chief coordinator.

The tournament is sponsored by Grih Laxmi Sales.

Tournament patron Nitin Prakash expressed pride in Chaibasa hosting an All India rating event.

Expected Participation and Prizes

Khandelwal noted that 200 players from various states participated in the previous tournament, and a similar turnout is expected this year.

“This tournament is important for those Jharkhand players who have not achieved a Rapid Rating and can gain the same in this tournament,” he said.

The top 51 participants will receive cash prizes, with the winner getting Rs 20,000 and a trophy.
