Dhanbad, April 8: The 14th Padmabai Rungta Memorial West Singhbhum District Chess Championship will be held from April 18 to 20 at the Sitram Rungta Recreation Hall of Town Club, Chaibasa.

Details of the Championship

Providing the information, West Singhbhum District Chess Association General Secretary Basant Khandelwal said the three-day championship will feature events across various age categories. The winner of the tournament will be awarded the prestigious Padmabai Rungta Memorial Trophy.

The championship will be conducted over eight rounds, with more than 120 players, including 25 international-rated chess players, confirming their participation. The last date for submitting entries is April 16.

Purushottam Saraf has been appointed as the tournament coordinator.

Selection for State Championship and Prizes

“Four top players from this championship will be selected to represent the West Singhbhum district in the Jharkhand State Senior Chess Championship 2025,” said Khandelwal.

He further added that the winner will receive a cash prize of ₹6,000 along with a glittering trophy. Additionally, the top 15 players will be felicitated with cash prizes.
