Dhanbad, Nov 20: An Intermediate student was crushed to death while five members of a family were injured in a bike-auto head-on collision in the Chasnala area under the Pathardih police station, around 17 km away from the district headquarters today in the early morning.
The Patherdih police station officer said the accident occurred at around 5.30 am. The bike and auto collided head–on. The bike rider identified as Sachin Kumar Modi from the Chhatabad area, fell on the road after the collision and a truck crushed him. He died on the spot.

Five members of a family, who were going to Chhath Ghat were injured severely. They were first admitted at Chasnala Community Health Centre (CHC) where doctors referred them to Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad for better treatment.
The eyewitnesses said the bike was coming from the opposite side at a high speed and hit the auto from the front. After the collision, he fell on the road and a truck that was coming behind his bike crushed him.
The Patherdih police who were on Chhath festival duty seized the truck, auto and the bike after sending the injured to the hospital.
