Jamshedpur, Jan 8: A 20-year-old youth who is a student of Bhubaneswar-based KIIT University was arrested while peddling brown sugar at Chakradharpur in West Singhbhum district on Monday.
A resident of Ramdas Bhatta in Chakradharpur, the youth identified as Abhi Kumar was caught while peddling the narcotic drugs in small packets to the drug addicts.
27 packets recovered
The police recovered 27 small packets from the possession of Abhi while arresting him.
The arrest was made in the presence of executive magistrate, Girijanand Kisku and Chkradharpur Thana OC, Chandrashekhar Kumar.

According to police, Abhi Kumar studies at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology in Bhubaneswar and had been to Chakradharpur to spend the vacation at home.
Sold brown sugar in ‘khaini’ packets
The police sources said Abhi’s parents had given him Rs 6,000 to pay monthly fees, but instead of paying that to his institute, the student had invested the amount for running the drug business.
According to police, the accused would sell the packets of brown sugar having concealed them inside a ‘khaini’ packet to dodge the police, but eventually, someone gave the police specific information leading to which a raid was carried out and the drug peddler was arrested.
The police are currently trying to find out the source from whom the KIIT student had procured the brown sugar.
