Jharkhand: Swarnarekha becomes champion of MPL-5 after winning in Super Over

Jamshedpur, February 16: Team Swarnarekha won the title of the fifth edition of Mahadev Premier League (MPL) Tennis Ball Cricket by defeating Team Nav Urja in Super Over in a thrilling final match.

League’s best batsman

Rajesh Mahato of Team Nav Urja was declared the league’s best batsman. In contrast, Sushil Tudu of Team Swarnarekha was declared the Man of the Series and Sachin Kumar of Team Annapurna was declared the best bowler of the Sonu Cricket League. Baljeet Sansoa, who batted brilliantly in the final, was the man of the final.

Adhunik Power

All Mahadev Premier League (MPL) matches, a cricket tournament organised for employees by Adhunik Power and Natural Resources Limited, were played at the Mahadev Sports Complex.

Team Swarnarekha won the toss in the final match and decided to bat first. Team Swarnarekha, who came to bat first, scored a brilliant 109 runs after losing two wickets in the stipulated 10 overs. Debbarta Sinha (15), Sushil Tudu (39) and man of the final Baljeet Sansoa added 46 unbeaten runs for their team with the help of three sixes and four fours. Santosh Mishra and Neeraj Kumar took one wicket each from Team Nav Urja.

In the reply innings, thanks to Rajesh Mahato’s explosive innings (42), Team Nav Urja also tied the match by scoring 109 runs in the stipulated 10 overs, in which Sumit Mahato (25) and Santosh Mishra (13) made important contributions. Rajesh Mahato and Sumit Mahato, who came to bat first in the Super Over, set a target of just seven runs in front of Team Swarnarekha, but the pair of Sushil Tudu and Mithun Majhi won the match and the championship title by scoring 10 runs in just three balls.

Mahadev Premier League

A total of twelve teams were playing in the Mahadev Premier League (MPL) in which Swarnarekha, Kavach, Nav Urja, Annapurna, Shaktisrot, Shramshakti, Ujala, Pratishtha, Jeevandayini, Sankalp, Sido Kanhu and Prakash had presented their respective claims.

As the chief guest in the final, the company’s CEO, Arun Kumar Mishra, distributed prizes and encouraged the players. He also rewarded the winning and runner-up teams with trophies and medals to all the players. In the ten-day long Mahadev Premier League (MPL), all the senior officials and employees displayed sportsmanship and made the tournament a success.
