Jharkhand: Tent House owner shot at and injured in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Dec 7: A 28-year-old youth was injured as he was shot at by one of the two warring groups of youths near Hotel Citi Inn along the NH-33 under Azadnagar Thana area in Mango in the wee hours on Thursday.

Identified as Imran Ali the gun-shot victim was attacked by a group of 10-12 youths while he was trying to pacify two warring groups near the hotel.

Ali who lives at Bawangora locality in Azadnagar and used to do a business of tent house decorations has been admitted at the Tata Main Hospital.

The victim has sustained a bullet injury in his leg and is stated to be out of danger.

Shot while trying to pacify two warring groups

Though police are yet to take a formal statement from the gun-shot injured, the victim has told the media that he had been to the Citi Inn for dinner and while coming out it past midnight, he saw about 20 youths engaged in a clash among themselves.

Ali said as he himself was a local, he spontaneously intervened in the discord and tried to pacify the two warring groups.  He pointed out that while he was talking to members of one of the groups, someone hit him with a hockey stick from behind, causing him to fall down. Soon he was shot at by another youth.

Ali said those who attacked him had dispersed having fired several rounds in the air.

The gun-shot victim pointed out that after being injured he contacted some of his friends who rushed him to Tata Main Hospital for treatment.

Police yet to take statement

Azadnagar Thana OC, Rakesh Kumar said they are yet to take a statement from the gun-shot injured.

“There had been a shooting incident near the Hotel Citi Inn, resulting in a youth getting injured. We are yet to a statement from the victim who is undergoing treatment at the Tata Main Hospital, ” adding that the mystery behind the shootout incident could be unfolded after an investigation into the case is over.
