Ranchi, July 22: Jharkhand is set to launch Eastern India’s first government-run Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) institute, with the State government signing agreements to introduce professional aviation training programmes in partnership with private institutions.
The Jharkhand Flying Institute (JFI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Delhi-based Venyure to offer the AME programme, while a separate agreement has been signed with AISECT Limited, Bhopal, to conduct air hostess training courses.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren is expected to formally launch the programmes in November during the State Foundation Day celebrations.
Courses to be offered from Dhanbad under PPP model
The aviation programmes will be conducted at the Jharkhand Flying Institute campus in Dhanbad under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
According to the State government, the initiative is aimed at providing professional aviation training within Jharkhand, reducing the need for students to travel to other states for specialised courses. The institute is also expected to attract students from neighbouring Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
AME course: 60 seats, three-year programme
The Aircraft Maintenance Engineering course will have 60 seats and a duration of three years.
The total course fee has been fixed at ₹6 lakh, payable in three annual instalments of ₹2 lakh each.
The programme will commence after obtaining approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

Air hostess training to offer two programmes
The Jharkhand Flying Institute will also introduce two air hostess training programmes—a six-month certificate course and a 12-month diploma course.
Each programme will have an intake capacity of 60 students.
The fee for the six-month course has been fixed at ₹1,00,500, while the one-year diploma programme will cost ₹1,55,500. The fee includes uniforms, grooming kits and swimming training.
The last date for submitting applications for the air hostess training programme is July 30. Interested candidates can apply through the Jharkhand Flying Institute’s official website.
‘New opportunities for aviation careers’
Captain S.P. Sinha, Managing Director of the Jharkhand Flying Institute, said preparations for launching both courses have been completed.
He said the programmes are intended to create new employment opportunities for young people in the rapidly growing aviation sector while helping build a skilled workforce for the country’s civil aviation industry.
Officials said the introduction of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering and cabin crew training marks a significant expansion of aviation education infrastructure in Jharkhand and is expected to strengthen the State’s role in developing skilled professionals for the sector.
