Jamshedpur, September 29: Jharkhand is likely to remain generally cloudy over the next few days, with light to moderate rain or thundershowers expected at isolated places, even as maximum temperatures are forecast to rise by 2–3°C.
Rain to Continue Through October 2
According to the latest weather outlook, isolated rain or thundershowers are likely on Tuesday, with similar conditions expected on September 30 and continuing through October 1 and 2.
While widespread heavy rainfall is not indicated, intermittent showers may continue across parts of the state during the transition from September to October.
Day Temperatures to Rise 2–3°C
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a 2–3°C rise in maximum temperatures over the next two days.
After the initial rise, no significant change in daytime temperatures is expected for the following three days.
The combination of cloudy skies, intermittent showers and rising daytime temperatures is likely to keep conditions humid across several parts of Jharkhand. Localised thunderstorms may also bring brief spells of rain.
Weather Systems to Sustain Localised Showers
The prevailing synoptic pattern remains favourable for isolated rainfall over Jharkhand. An upper-air cyclonic circulation over east Uttar Pradesh, extending between 1.5 km and 3.1 km above mean sea level, continues to persist.
Another upper-air cyclonic circulation lies over the northwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal, extending between 3.1 km and 4.5 km above mean sea level. The system is expected to maintain atmospheric instability over the region and could contribute to isolated convective activity over Jharkhand.
Warm, Humid Afternoons Likely
With the southwest monsoon season nearing its end, weather conditions in Jharkhand are likely to remain variable, with alternating cloudy spells, localised showers and gradual daytime warming.
Residents in vulnerable areas have been advised to remain alert to sudden thunderstorms and lightning during periods of convective activity.
The IMD outlook indicates that after the initial 2–3°C rise, maximum temperatures are likely to remain broadly stable, suggesting relatively warm and humid afternoons even as occasional showers continue.
