Jamshedpur, April 17: The Ranchi Meteorological Centre has issued a thunderstorm and lightning alert for various parts of the state over the next four days, warning of gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph.

According to the forecast:

April 17: Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely at isolated places except the western parts of the state.
April 18: The alert extends to North-Eastern, South-Eastern, and adjoining Central parts of the state.
April 19: Similar weather conditions are expected again at isolated places, excluding the western region.

April 20: Thunderstorm activity may persist with slightly reduced wind speeds (30–40 kmph), likely to affect most parts of the state except the west.
The ongoing weather pattern is influenced by two active troughs. One extending from Sikkim to North Odisha across West Bengal and Jharkhand at altitudes between 3.1 and 5.8 Km above sea level.

Another trough runs from a cyclonic circulation over East Madhya Pradesh to Gangetic West Bengal across Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, up to 1.5 Km above sea level.
Weathermen said this is the Nor’wester Season and that residents are advised to stay updated with local weather reports and take necessary precautions during thunderstorm activity, particularly in vulnerable regions.
